Backbone Entertainment has revealed that the Death Jr. series will finally be making the jump to home consoles with a Wii remake of the PlayStation Portable title, Death Jr. 2: Root of Evil. For the Wii version of the game, Eidos will be taking over Konami's role as publisher.

In a preview on 1UP, Backbone producer James Stanley said that Death Jr. 2: Root of Evil's Wii version will essentially be a kind of "Special Edition". The Wii title will reportedly feature more polygons, higher-resolution textures and more voice acting compared to its predecessor on the PSP.

Additional features include splitscreen play for co-op, 480p and Dolby Pro Logic support. The game's UI will also be overhauled to make navigation and weapon selection easier.

Controls will of course center on the Wiimote and Nunchuk combo. Players can aim in Death Jr. 2: Root of Evil by pointing a cursor around the screen. The camera can be moved by pushing the same cursor to the screen's edges. Melee attacks can be performed by shaking the Wiimote and the Nunchuk.

That's pretty much all the info we have on Death Jr. 2: Root of Evil for the Wii right now, but seeing as the game's being prepped for a Spring 2008 release, we expect more details to come out in the following weeks. Keep checking back here for further updates. In the meantime, check out the screenshots from the game's Wii version below.

 » yawn, another port

Wow an unimpressive 3 year old PSP game finally makes its way to the Wii. It's funny how they make it seem like a whole new game by putting the 2 behind the name. Nope, just a port.

Usually consoles that get such old, horrible games fail pretty quickly. The Atari Jaguar, Sega Saturn, Atari 7800, and 32x come to mind. Not the Wii though, it has a magic controller and irrational die hard fans.

This site doesn't have a Gamecube, N64, game boy advance, SNES, or NES section. I still play those systems once in a while. The DS section is kinda boring. Funny thing is I like the Nintendo systems that didn't do so well like the Virtual Boy and Game boy micro which I just got last weekend.
