According to HMV, the Wii is still practically
flying off store shelves as consumer demand for the console stays at an all-time high. If this trend continues, supply for the holiday season will surely run out.But on the upside, game sales have been rising as well, and not just Nintendo's first-party titles. Tim Ellis says that third-party games are now racking up sales numbers. |

The August NPD numbers have come in with Electronic Arts' Boogie for the Wii selling 68,000 copies. Compared to Metroid Prime 3:Corruption which sold 218,100 copies during the month, some people may be thinking that the game didn't sell as well as EA had hoped it would. Well, apparently that's not the case as Senior Director of PR at EA Casual Trudy Miller pointed out. She noted that "casual games have a different and potentially longer sales cycle than hard core games. Boogie is a family-oriented game and will be available through the holiday and beyond." The company has declined to give their projected sales figures, but judging from the answers they may be close to hitting that mark. Boogie will also be released on the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS by the end of the year. We'll have to see if these releases will do just as well or even better than their Wii counterpart. |

Trying to look for a cheap thrill game for the Wii, but find yourself just a little short on cash? After shopping at Target, Gonintendo reader SwiftShock received a US$ 5 discount off Boogie for the Nintendo Wii which can be availed at any Target location upon presenting the receipt. This discount was verified by others as well. While Boogie may not be the best-scoring game developed for the Wii, it's still a cheaper alternative to the bigger titles out there. If you're a little strapped for cash and feel the need to try out one of the many rhythm sim games out there then you might as well give this game a chance. Electronic Arts may still be enticing people into trying a few rounds of karaoke with its discounted price. Boogie is exclusive for the Nintendo Wii and comes with its own packaged karaoke microphone. |

Game designer Jean-Charles Gaudechon, who worked as the lead designer for Electronic Arts' Wii rhythm title Boogie, has responded to the beating Boogie has gotten from critics. The game has so far elicited mostly negative reactions from critics since its release. The first review it got was a 3 out of 10. In an interview with GameFile, Gaudechon responded, "When I see a 3 out of 10, I think it's people completely hermetic to it, just not getting it." Gaudechon also addressed critics' negative reactions to Boogie's simplistic controls and gameplay. "My philosophy in terms of design: Controls shouldn't be a showstopper," Gaudechon said. "Difficultly should come from the game. It should be easy to dance. It should be tough to dance on a certain level of difficulty." Gaudechon defended the game's control system by saying that it's ideal for the game's target audience. "When we did focus groups, we had 5-year-olds and 77-year-olds coming here. Twenty-nine-year-old hard-core gamers are not going to help us very much." The designer does agree with one particular criticism though: online play. "We could have pushed for it. It's just that at one point we just made sure we could nail what was important for the game. That's why the first version of this game is what we could do in the time we had for it." |

Electronic Arts has finally released the much-anticipated dance rhythm video game Boogie in North America last week. So, what particular track is your favorite one? Have you already come up with your own music video? Lucky you because your European counterparts won't be able to get hold on the game until August 31.
To help our friends tide over back there, and for some of you who still doesn't have a copy, here's another gameplay video featuring the hit song Canned Heat from Jamiroquai. As always, the movements are all groovy and the sound are as funky as ever. Speaking of which, Boogie features a total of more than different songs. Boogie is currently priced for US$ 59.99 in North America bundled with a karaoke microphone. |

Electronic Arts' long-awaited dance party game Boogie has now hit its shipping date, which was followed with a prompt announcement by the worldwide publisher. The attention call via press wire heralded the shipping of Boogie for the Wii to stores all over North America and reminded that Europe was to receive their version by August 31. Rehashed versions of popular rhythm tracks by The Jackson 5, Kool & The Gang, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cyndi Lauper, Black Eyed Peas and Britney Spears, among others, will litter the game's selectable soundtrack. Coupled with enjoyment over the ultimate party mode, players will also be able to create their own music videos or groove solo in the story mode for fame and fortune. EA has estimated a price of US$ 59.99 for the game bundled with a karaoke microphone and announced an ESRB rating of E10+ (Lyrics and Suggestive Themes) for the U.S. version of the game. PEGI has rated the game as 3+ for European versions. |

Electronic Arts has once again sent out an announcement reminding gamers that Boogie, their upcoming rhythm game for the Nintendo Wii video game console, will be released on August 31 in Europe. The game will hit the U.S. this week. The alien theme-based Boogie is a party game that lets players create their own characters and then use the Wiimote and Nunchuk to sing and dance through the more than 30 songs included in the game. The game's retail version also comes bundled with a USB microphone. Along with the announcement, EA also released a new batch of screenshots from the game. The images below also include a 3D one. If you have a pair of 3D glasses lying around, put 'em on and check out the screenshots. |

It was just a while ago when we shared with you a gameplay video of Electronic Arts' exclusive Wii title Boogie. That clip showed how players can make their own music videos using the editing feature that comes bundled with the game. Now, this next clip shows how you can dance it off, Boogie style, with your friends.
The soundtrack for Boogie is quite varied, with classics like ABC from The Jackson 5 and the pop song Don't Cha from the Pussycat Dolls being included in the official track list among others. What better way to groove and sing to these songs than having a friendly competition with your family and loved ones? EA's Boogie should be available in North America on August 9. It will be released in Europe by the end of this month. |

Awesome video-editing gameplay and admittedly scary dancing moves in this video update of the game that's got everyone itching to slip into their dancing shoes, Electronic Arts' Boogie for the Nintendo Wii. We get you the moves to groove with the best of the best.
While certainly not as deep or as powerful as professional video-editing tools - it's a feature bundled with the game, after all - Boogie's video editor can certainly stand on its own. It adds neat effects and camera angles to your video with the ease and boasts of the simplicity of letting the video play itself while the effects are enabled, then pausing to change, add or remove effects as often as you'd like. Very intuitive and very user-friendly. One thing we noticed is the "cut" counter in the video, one that keeps track of how many times you've added effects or changed camera angles. While this may seem limiting to the player, yours truly believes it helps in the creative process - giving the editor a set amount of resources to deal with so that the video itself doesn't look too over-the-top. We also got an eyeful of the in-game character doing the splits several times in a row - without getting up. Scary. In any case, enjoy the video! |
