If you had fun playing Katamari and you're looking for more isometric shaped fun, then you might want to take a look into Majesco Entertainment's own version of geometric battle madness. Originally called Tumiki Fighters, this freeware PC game finally gets a leg up and will be ported onto the Nintendo Wii under the new name Blast Works: Build, Fuse & Destroy. As you can see from the screenshots, the graphics rely on a lot of blocky geometric shapes which form your "ship" in this fast and frenetic shoot 'em up game. As you blast your way past waves of enemies, you can absorb the pieces that you blow away from them and use them to enhance your own ship's defenses. While it seems like the Wii will be keeping into the theme of the game's simplistic graphics, Majesco added a lot of new features which will surely draw in any gamer who's into side-scrolling shooters. Fans who enjoyed the original Tumiki Fighters definitely won't be disappointed with the newest incarnation of this game. Developers from Budcat Creations plan to release the game by this fall in the States and by early 2008 in Europe. There hasn't been any word whether or not the game is slated to have a Japanese release. More screenshots after the jump! |

According to some reports in the past, the upcoming shoot 'em up video game title Blast Works: Build, Fuse & Destroy is going to be priced for around 20 bucks. While Majesco Entertainment has yet to announce an official price, it seems that you will need more than the estimated amount to purchase this former freeware PC game.
According to a listing that appeared over at Gamestop's online store, Blast Works will cost US$ 39.99. We are not certain if this is going to be the last price or this is just a price holder put by the retail chain. In case you are not aware how the Wii version of the game differs from the one you have on your PC, here are some of the worth mentioning features:

Some of you might know of Kenta Cho - you might remember how his PC creations were later adapted and ported onto the PSP by homebrew developers. Mr. Cho's got bigger things to fry now, especially after Majesco Entertainment's E3 announcement of bringing one of his shoot-em-up creations, Tumiki Fighters, to the Wii (which is now called Blast Works: Build, Fuse & Destroy).Siliconera was able to hook up with Kenta Cho, and in an interview about Blast Works, they also touched on other matters that concern game development as a whole - more specifically digital content up for download on WiiWare, PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live Arcade. He does express interest in developing games for the consoles, and right now, he's working on some XNA projects. They're just prototypes for now, but only time will tell... Here's an excerpt from the interview: Siliconera: Which digital platform is the most appealing to you? Kenta Cho: I like Xbox Live Arcade because it has many small good action games such as Geometry Wars and PAC-MAN CE. I haven't owned Playstation 3 yet but recently one PS3 E-Distribution game, Star Strike HD (Super Stardust HD), is on my mind. Yeah Super Stardust HD is, indeed, on quite a lot of people's minds. And you can't count out Geometry Wars either, as one of the games which further pushed the shmup genre (in a sense) to a different direction. Lots of casual games are available online. But how does Kenta Cho stack up to the big stackers? You can click the Read link below to see the full transcript of Kenta Cho's interview with Siliconera. |

Players can also absorb the pieces and weapons of enemy units that they destroy to enhance their ship's defenses. Now what does that sound like? Yep, Tumiki Fighters. Rumors of Majesco bringing the PC freeware game to the Nintendo Wii console surfaced a couple of months ago, and it seems like this is the end result. Anyway, here are a few more features of the game:

For you guys who love side scrolling shooters, this may be right up your alley. But don't expect some cool spaceship and alien enemies. hch features some pretty weird polygon action.
Around a couple days ago, we reported that about GameFly including Tumiki Fighters in their listing as a Wii title. It was mistaken for a fighting game, now you can check out what it really looks like. You get to play with a polygon ship and shoot polygon missiles. Well, everything else is a polygon as you may have already guessed. We'll let you watch the video and check out the crazy gameplay of Majesco's Tumiki Fighters for the Wii. Enjoy! |
