Charge to 2010!!!

The third quarter financial call for Activision just commenced this afternoon, and the big news that came out of it was that their 2010 games will be bigger, including new iterations for the Call of Duty and Guitar Hero franchises.

Thomas Tipple of Activision highlighted the publisher's outlook for the brand, new year:

In 2010, Activision publishing is expected to release a strong product lineup of innovative titles. The diversified lineup will include, among others, titles based on the best-selling franchises in the company's history, including Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk, Shrek, and Spiderman, and a select few new intellectual properties such as Blur and Singularity ,and a strong catalog based on our top sellers of 2009.

Looking forward to the new year, indeed, especially to those new IPs.

Wow there is nothing new. Activision needs to release games outside of CoD, Marvel and Tony Hawk. Milking the heck out of a franchise can be bad too.

WOW, their first sentence was about innovative titles. Then they list CoD, Guitar Hero, tony Hawk and Spiderman. Way to go, Activision. You've become way worse than EA ever was.

CoD could use a break. After MW2... let it take 2 year off and come back. Guitar Hero is just ridiculous now. You'd think they would make more $ off of DLC than releasing a new version every 6 months. I don't think anyone even knew Guitar hero 5 came out. The market is too saturated.

This is exactly what came to my mind when I read this, and I've been saying for a long time that the music game market is already way too saturated, companies are just competing with themselves now. Apparently some game called Band Hero is out now as well, I had no clue it was even in the works. I hope it sells like crap and Activision gets the message

Yeah, whenever I hear Activision, I think "innovation."
