Bob RossIn case you are not aware, there was supposed to be an artsy fartsy videogame slated for the Wii and handheld DS. It was based on real life painter and TV personality Bob Ross. Aptly titled The Joy of Painting, the game lets players use the Wiimote and the stylus as a paintbrush.

Actually, it's just fine if you haven't been aware of that game until now. You haven't missed anything because the game has just officially been cancelled. According to would-be developer AGFRAG on their official Yahoo game page,

AGFRAG is no longer involved in the development of ANY Bob Ross Game.

Please contact Bob Ross Inc. for further information.

Thank you.

That's all. No other information or explanation was provided by the company. According to other sources, it is true that AGFRAG is no longer involved with the game but Bob Ross Inc. is still pursuing to create a videogame for the celebrated painter. The official site, however, has no mention of anything related to the matter.

You're telling me thats an official page? A Yahoo groups page that anyone can create? It even has a spelling error on the 1 sentence on the page.

Also the home page it lists is very fishy, why is it so unprofessional?

It's entirely possible that lack of professionalism is the cause behind the cancellation. I know I wouldn't want my videogame being made by people that used Yahoo! Groups as a method to inform fans, and I'm not even that famous.

And as for the home page listed, I entirely agree. Red-on-black text, with a scrolling status-bar message? 1997 called... they want their webpage back.

(Okay... maybe they showed a little class by not having an animated .GIF file...)

Assuming this isn't a lie, and it really was cancelled...

Maybe it's because this game would SUCK and Bob wouldn't let them publish it unless it was a decent game?

My bad, and my appologies to Bob Ross and family. I did not realize he was deceased.

So either his ghost came back and stopped this horrid monstrosity, or his family did. (Or maybe even the... publisher!)

If the controls were right, a painting game could be great. But anyone who has used the WiiMote knows that painting with it would be a nightmare, and using a stylus on a 3 inch screen for the same is almost as bad.

I never heard about this but I was a big fan of Mr. Ross and I think a game would be fkn awesome expecially on the Wii/DS. Please someone make it!!!!

As cool as this game could have been, I do not see how it would be possible to wave the wiimote around and create a realistic landscape painting.

I believe that the unproffesional webiste just shows that some idiot company tried to say they could make this a reality, and after lots and lots of money and nothing more to show than some completely crap software and a junk yahoo groups page they pulled the plug and RAN AWAY!

I'm sorry but I just don't see how this tech could have worked well (painting something that takes fine detail and dumbing it down to waves of the wiimote), and these pipe dreamers got a shotgun to the face.

The End
(please hold your applause)
