TGS 2007 - Image 1We're barely three weeks away from what could be the world's biggest game expo after the E3 downsizing of 2007. Yup, it's an event most of us would love to be in: The Tokyo Game Show 2007!

It's no secret that TGS has always been the Far East's answer to E3 in terms of big announcements and sneak peeks of exciting projects. If there's a shindig that the big game publishers are saving their aces for, this one has to be it.

Here's a short list of just some of the stuff we expect to see. Feel free to add your own wishes at the comments, though, because we're sure you have some big ideas of your own:

1. An apparition of Final Fantasy XIII - Square Enix was mum on this big PlayStation 3 project in E3 and even in during GC 2007 in Germany. Could they be saving the best for the year's last huge show? They better be because we're all aching to see more than just screenshots. A new trailer and some details would be terrific.

2. More of Wii Fit - There's no doubt that the most anticipated release for the fastest-selling console in history is next year's exercise game Wii Fit and its accessory, the Balance Board. We saw a bit of this with Reggie Fils-Aime in E3 and we can expect a bit more for the Japanese crowd.

3. More Metal Gear Solid 4/ Metal Gear Online teasers - You know a big game is about to hit when its PR machine is getting noisier by the day. We've been seeing new MGS4 trailers from Santa Monica to Leipzig and it would be almost a travesty if its hometown Tokyo doesn't get one. Also, the multiplayer MGS Online is looking hot and we won't be surprised if there are more details soon.

4. A big Halo 3 showing - So maybe the Halo franchise isn't quite as big in Japan as it is here in the US, but with the TGS just a few days away from the big game's Japanese release, is there any reason why Microsoft should hold back? The game, as we all know, is already at gold status, so expect it to be shown off in full force.

5. More PlayStation Eye games - There are some in the Sony camp who say that the PlayStation Eye could be the answer to the Wiimote, and we'd be lying through our teeth if we say that there isn't any truth in the statement. We're expecting some developers to announce an additional title or two to drum up support for the peripheral.

6. A Gran Turismo 5 Prologue test drive - Polyphony may not be sure at this point whether or not this game will see American shores, but Japan is almost a sure bet. Although still a relative fetus in development, this game is already looking that darn good. Prologue, the prequel to the fifth Gran Turismo, will be playable by year's end and there's no reason why they shouldn't take it for a spin in TGS.

7. Red Steel 2 announcement and preview - There's absolutely no science involved in this guess but there's a rumor circulating that a sequel to Red Steel is in the works and we'd love to see it soon.

8. Shenmue 3 announcement - Okay, we're getting a little on the wishy side here, but if Sega really wants a game that will attract the hardcore crowd, it can look at the Shenmue series for some inspiration. The franchise is too good to stop at two and we wouldn't mind seeing a third to form at least a trilogy.

9. God of War 3 revelation - Far fetched? It could happen. It hasn't been a year since God of War 2 was released and we already miss Kratos. The ending left us hanging and a multiplatform sequel would make everyone happy (PS3, PSP).

10. More Lost Odyssey clips - Will Hironobu Sakaguchi be able to resist the temptation of showing off his latest project to his home crowd? This RPG could be what the Xbox 360 needs to rally the Japanese fans to the fold. Putting on the Mistwalker fireworks with this one would make all the sense in the world.

God of War 3:

"The ending left us hanging and a multiplatform sequel would make everyone happy.''

Multiplatform, how can it go multi if it is owned by Sony????

 » wish fulfillment

Just a wish. Chances are, it's more reasonable to expect a PS3-only sequel. Still, it'd be nice to dream (especially if it might get Sony more money)

   Re: Quixand - 2007-09-03
 » huh???

it's more reasonable to expect a PS3 sequel??? more reasonable??? there is NO REASON at all to expect otherwise!!!!

it is this type of reporting that starts stupid speculations... let's face it not all the people on the internet are as sharp as you would want the general public to be and statements like this doesn't help at all... in fact websites such as QJ feeds on those so called minds... XBox fanboys can say what ever the hell they want... PS3 fanboys... Wiitards... 11 years olds... 30 year old forum posters... they can say what ever they feel like... but as QJ writers you don't just write anything the hell you want... you should be more responsible.

I have always stood by QJ whenever you guys are accused of impartiality favoring one console over another and you guys know that... but it is you guys who brings it on yourself.

i'm sure he means ps2/ps3

   Re: jacka (Unregistered) - 2007-09-03
» God of war 3 ISNT COMING TO ANY OTHER PLATFORM OTHER THAN PLAYSTATION.

God of war is a sony IP just like halo is a microsoft IP. This is where stupid rumar starts. One guy says something like that then it becomes even more twisted by making gamers more excited and from there on it all starts.....Microsoft fantards are more like this than sony or ninty fantards. Halo + Gears is for Xbox. Killzone, God of War and MGS4 is for sony, live with it.

   Re: Apu - 2007-09-03
 » Um

I dont see why they would release it on PS2 because well the PS2 is dying and especially when God of War 3 comes out (2008 at best to 2009) the PS2 will be just about over.

   Re: Vincent (Unregistered) - 2007-09-03
 » umm

um the ps2 is NOT dying rofl are you and idiot? o wait yes you are. the ps2 sold 100 million consoles, it won't die for another 5 years.

 » Clarification

I'm sorry about the confusion. We're all aware that the God of War franchise is under Sony but by multi-platform I meant PS3/PSP. Chains of Olympus is underway for the PSP but I thought it wouldn't hurt to have a little brother on PSP as well. My bad. Clarified it on the article, though.

Vincent, when I said that the PS2 was dying I meant software wise, so yeah. In that way the PS2 is dying seeing as how Sony and other companies will be focusing on the next gens.

Not to busst the article writers balls but nintendo never apperas at TGS so they usualy dont have loots off nintendo stuff there.

Re: Glen D. (QJ. NET Staff) - 2007-09-03
 » you're right

Good point but in 2005 Satoru Iwata did hold a keynote speech and highlighted the Wiimote. Considering how big Nintendo is again, there's a bit of hope that there will be a firecracker or two.

At least an anouncement for LBP demo, or the PSN Home beta :)

I want to see some more FFXIII and hopefully some release dates/demo? :o

 » my hopes:

Something from FF vs 13 and 13, a little something about some not annonced 2k8 games (jrpgs, like jap. games that would be annonced and looking awesome). New playstation store demos (of games we didn't even know about). News about shirokishi densetsu (white knight story from level5), news about the next dragon quest for home consoles (not this stupid action game for the wii nor the good looking portable dq for ds). And that all. That would be a lot of things! lol

 » KINGDOM HEARTS!!!

I would love to hear something about the rumoured upcoming Kingdom Hearts Prequals/Sequals... The other day on G4's Feed, they mentioned that it is rumoured that multiple Kingdom Hearts games are in the works... Hopefully we will find something out about them!! KH on the Wii would be awesome (just think about Keyblading with a Wiimote) and a DS title would be fun too!!

They aren't exactly credible, they seem to just pull headlines from yesterday's diggs. Bring up digg for 10 minutes a day yourself, and you can save yourself the pain of watching AoTS.

They never even mentioned it at E3 or Leipzig. Hopefully there will be an acknowledgement that it even exists.
